FAQ

Will this game change my life?

We believe so. It changed ours! All of a sudden, we now have an ‘excuse’ to ask ourselves and our friends + family deeper questions that otherwise would be just weird to bring up. Playing the game allowed us to share a part of us that otherwise felt unexpressed with those we care about.

Will there be a digital version / an app version soon?

No, never! We created this game to help us get off our phones. There is an app for everything and we all have at least 50+ of them on our devices. We found it’s often our phones, those apps and the endless notifications that make us not present to the current moment and people around us. We encourage to put your phone on the airplane mode and enjoy one hour of uninterrupted quality time with people you care about.

Yeah, but I want to travel with my game everywhere and I’m worried about the weight!

Yay, so happy to hear you want to take your game traveling. Super thoughtful of you, she’ll love that! Grab the deck from the box, wrap them with an elastic band and put it in your pocket when traveling. It will take up close to zero space + will give you an excuse to chat to a friendly stranger sitting next to you on the plane!

Is this game appropriate to play at a family event or a first date? Or you guys put some awkward / sexual / weird questions that will embarrass me forever?

100% it is appropriate! Unlike other games, we skipped all the kissing/ first time/ orgy questions so you can whip the deck on a first date or at Christmas and not worry about shocking your date or parents. We got you!

How many people can play the game?

The game is a conversation starter. You can play with two people or 4 or 6 people. The more the merrier!

How we need a table / pen/ pencils to play the game?

You don’t! You might need a pen later after you’ve done playing… but you’ll see why when you receive you pack ;-)

Is there no digital download? I’m worried about the carbon footprint with the shipping.

We printed the game on a recycled paper with chemical-free ink. We also offer an option of offsetting the carbon footprint of your entire purchase conveniently at checkout (it’s about $2 per pack).

Is this product a good present idea?

Yes. Without a doubt! We offer 50% off your second pack so you can gift it to a friend or a family member.

How do I play the game? Is there a point’s system?

2 PLAYERS:

Whether this is an awkward first date, your partner is making you play “another one of those card games,” or you’re just looking for something fun to do together — start by putting your phones on airplane mode. This is a travel game after all! Next, give each other nicknames by taking the first letter of your partner’s name and thinking of a city or country starting with that letter. That will be their nickname and you must refer to them as that for the rest of the game.  (For example, if your partners name starts with an A you could refer to them as “Australia” or “Amsterdam”) Allow your partner to do the same for you.

Okay, now that you have your nicknames, shuffle the pack. Within the pack you’ll find 3 types of cards DEEP, DEEPER and ACTION CARDS. DEEP and DEEPER cards are exactly how they sound… questions that make you go deeper. With that in mind, if you or your partner feel like the other isn’t opening up enough, either of you can ask to “EXPLORE” their answer further.  You get to use your “EXPLORE” power 3 times throughout the game, simply by saying “EXPLORE” when you feel you want to dive deeper into your partner’s answer. When “EXPLORE” is called,  both players must close their eyes, and take a deep breath through the nose and exhale through the mouth before exploring the answer more. (A little bio-hacking trick to get you out of your head and into the present moment where all the  fun is!).  We get that this can be hard, but that’s the point. Great friends (and players!) push our comfort zones and get us to explore those deeper parts of ourselves.

There are no winners in this game, and there’s no point system here. But it’s important to try and resist the temptation to skip questions. Because, you know, the harder (and more uncomfortable!) questions often bring out the best answers. Next step. Like we said, there are ACTION CARDS in the pack. Some of those ACTION CARDS encourage you to scan a QR code and make a difference in the moment. BUT, that’s not an excuse to pick up your phones! You thought we messed up there, didn’t you? Nope! If you get one, answer the question, then put it aside to scan when you’re done playing.. We’ve said it a few times, but it’s worth saying just one more time: this isn’t a competition, it’s a collaboration between two people who want to learn more about the world and each other. It takes two to win, and at least two to share some laughs and tears here too.

MORE THAN 2 PLAYERS:

Wow, look at you go. You convinced more than one person to play with you?! You rock. Group games have very similar rules, they’re just a little more fun ;) Start by putting your phones on airplane mode. This is a travel game after all! Next, give each other nicknames. To do this, take the first letter of the person’s name on your left and think of a city or country starting with that letter. That will be their nickname and you must refer to them as that for the rest of the game. (For example, if your their name starts with a J you could refer to them as “Jacksonville” or “Jakarta”). Continue around the group until everyone has a nickname.

Within the pack you’ll find 3 types of cards DEEP, DEEPER and ACTION CARDS, make sure to shuffle the pack before you begin.

There is no point system here and unlike playing in twos, there is no “EXPLORE'' power in the group setting. Groups are intimidating enough, we don’t need this to feel like a work Zoom call. Before you start the game, have the whole group close their eyes for a second and take a deep breath through their nose and exhale through the mouth. We know you’ll want to skip it, but seriously… don’t. We all need to breathe a little more, and this is a little bio-hacking trick to get you out of your head and into the present moment where the fun really is!

Now, prior to picking up each card the player must say who the question will be directed to. Alternate as much as possible for variety and diversity to make sure everyone gets to share their story.

You’ll see a lot of the questions are focused between two people. If it’s not your turn, be attentive. Listen. Being a supportive observer is a skill and a great reminder that not everything is always about us. Some of the “ACTION CARDS” encourage you to scan a QR code and make a difference. BUT, that’s not an excuse to pick up your phones! You thought we forgot our own rules, didn’t you?! Nope! If you get one, answer the question, then put it aside until the end of the game.

At the end of the game, take a moment to go round the circle and each share how playing made you feel. Who was the most open and vulnerable? Who shared the funniest story? Who seems like the craziest person to travel with? We believe that authenticity and vulnerability should always be celebrated, so make sure to applaud those that went deeper.
